Georgia ARE Board

Aside

As many are aware a few months ago mgoodwin submitted NCARB‘s IDP hours to the Georgia Board in order to be approved to begin taking the ARE.  Sadly NCARB‘s website does not have information on how to contact your board of choice to determine if there was any follow-up required. mgoodwin was left believing that he would be contacted with further information or being told “you’re approved”.  This did not happen, a follow-up email had to be sent to NCARB to which they copied mgoodwin to an email to the Georgia board for communication purposes and showing that the hours had been submitted.

Only after emailing the contact at the Georgia Board was it found out that an application along with $50 had to be submitted along with the NCARB record.

For those future Architects that need to get begin taking their exams in Georgia, don’t forget to go to ww.sos.ga.gov/plb and apply online and pay your $50 after you have had NCARB submit your completed IDP record.

Will keep you posted on further developments.

Working Details

Aside

Working out the Details on how to make the “pretty” elevations “REAL.”  Gotta love the problem solving of the construction Details, Especially when the problem solving can happen early in the process.

inDesign

Aside

Just invested in Adobe inDesign to add to the rest of Adobe Creative Suite. Now it’s time to become familiar with the differences in the software compared to the other tools in the package along with learning the power it holds over word processors and Illustrator when it comes to page layout. ::Happy Dance::

IDP Done!

Aside

mgoodwin has completed the required Intern Development Program Hours needed prior to taking the 7 Architecture Registration Exams (ARE).  Now the submitted hours are going through the “verification process” process prior to being able to submit them to Georgia’s Jurisdiction Requesting approval to begin taking the ARE.  OH HAPPY DAY!

Tweaking the formats

Aside

The fine tuning of your website (mgoodwinDESIGN) in this case, it what makes the whole branding exercise come together… When working with an open source CMS like WordPress, one tends to start with an existing template and builds/customizes from there.  The satisfying part is watching the stylization slowly morph into your own.  The frustrating part can be playing hide and seek with the code till you resolve the part of the code that makes the changes you are expecting.  TAG YOU’RE IT!  Headway made… another bit of stylization made.
