Michael Goodwin is currently a part-time graduate student in the College of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is currently working on his final Thesis/Masters Project this semester and next semester and he will be finishing his Master of Architecture degree in May 2009. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Georgia Tech in the spring of 2004.

Michael was an Army Brat, born and raised. He was born in Germany, moved to Fort Lost in The Woods (Fort Leonard Wood), Missouri, and then moved back to Germany. From there, Michael moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina, and in '96, his family moved to Richmond Hill, Georgia near Savannah. Michael stayed in NC until January '97 so that he could earn the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scout troop that he started in. Michael graduated from Richmond Hill High in '99 and started Georgia Tech that fall where he was a member of Circle K International, a service organization and a member of the Kiwanis International Family.

As a member of the Scout’s, Michael worked as an “Interpreter” (canoe guide) at the Charles L. Sommers Northern Tier High Adventure Canoe Base for 3 summers. Along with being a participant and working at the Northern Tier Canoe Base, Michael has also been a participant at the Philmont Scout Ranch and twice at the National Jamboree.

As a member of Circle K, Michael participated in many service projects and held a number of positions. During his 5th year of undergrad at Tech, Michael held the District position as District Technology Chair. Not only did he redesign and maintain the District Website, he was also in charge of managing the district email reflectors and being tech support for any A/V that was needed at Conferences and Conventions. At the 2004 District Convention, Michael was named the Outstanding District chair and then that summer at the International Convention he was named as a Distinguished Committee Chair.

Michael has been employed in a few different rolls including webmaster for a number of different websites in Georgia Tech’s College of Architecture along with working at KPS Group and Foley Design Associates Architecture firms. While at Foley, Michael had the opportunity to work in almost all stages of the design process not just making the architects designs real but also adding his own sensibility into the project. Along with “typical” design tasks, Michael was also able to utilize his graphic design skills in creating building and site plan renderings as well as photorealistic manipulations.
